Lord’s will finally host a women’s Test in 142 years since staging its first such men’s match – when England face India in a 4-day game, starting July 10.
After India’s group-stage exit from the T20 World Cup, a victory at the iconic venue could provide the perfect morale boost.
India Captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, hoped that every player would contribute and back one another to make the historic outing memorable.
Left-arm spinner Shree Charani is set to make her Test debut after finishing as India’s leading wicket-taker at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Nine of England’s World Cup squad are a part of the Test, including Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is ‘hoping to play’ despite a nagging calf injury.
The game will also mark England batter, Tammy Beaumont’s farewell to international cricket.
Beaumont has made 260 appearances for England since her debut 17 years ago and she was the first English woman to score a double century in a Test – 208 against Australia in 2023.
