U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday, where the leaders discussed the situation in West Asia.
At the start of a dinner with U.S. and Israeli officials, Netanyahu told reporters that the U.S. and Israel were working with other countries to offer Palestinians a better future, suggesting that Gaza residents could relocate to neighboring nations.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials engaged in indirect talks with Hamas, aiming for a U.S.-brokered ceasefire and hostage-release agreement in Gaza. The proposal includes phased hostage releases, Israeli troop withdrawals from parts of Gaza, and broader discussions to end the war.
Addressing tensions with Iran, Trump expressed interest in lifting sanctions on Iran at some point and discussed with Netanyahu the possibility of a “permanent deal” with the country.
Earlier, Netanyahu met U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff at Blair House.
The U.S. has scheduled talks with Tehran, with Special Envoy Witkoff stating that the meeting would take place in the next week or so.
Israeli officials also hope that resolving the conflict with Iran could lead to normalized relations with neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.
