Anti-government protests erupted in Peru’s capital Lima on Sunday. At least 18 people, including 12 police officers and six journalists, were injured during a demonstration organized by the youth-led “Generation Z” collective.

Protesters, frustrated with President Dina Boluarte’s administration, clashed with police using stones and sticks. Authorities responded with tear gas to prevent protesters from reaching government buildings.

The National Association of Journalists and the National Human Rights Coordinator condemned the police’s actions during the protests. President Boluarte’s approval ratings have plummeted amid a rise in crime and extortion cases, fueling public discontent.
