Indian Medical Team Reaches Dhaka to Treat Jet Crash Victims

An Indian team of burn specialists and nurses equipped with necessary medical support arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday night to treat the burn victims of the jet crash.

The specialised team consists of doctors and nurses from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, two of India’s leading hospitals specialising in burns and plastic surgery.

The team will assist in the treatment of victims of Monday’s aircraft crash.

They will assess the condition of the patients and provide recommendations for further treatment and specialised care in India, if necessary.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka stated that additional medical teams may follow, depending on the preliminary assessment and treatment needs.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared a post on X, writing, “This evening (July 23), a team of two Indian specialists and a nursing assistant from two of India’s topmost burn injury treatment hospitals — Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi — landed in Dhaka to help with the treatment of the victims of the plane crash tragedy of July 21 in Dhaka.

They will begin their work at a designated hospital treating these patients from tomorrow morning. Their visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance to extend all possible assistance and support to Bangladesh in the wake of the tragedy.”

Earlier, on July 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the tragic air crash in Dhaka and conveyed India’s support and assistance.
