Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina on Saturday for a two-day visit, marking the third leg of his five-nation tour.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with the top leadership of Argentina to review existing cooperation and explore avenues to strengthen ties in key areas. The visit aims to further deepen the multifaceted Strategic Partnership between India and Argentina. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years.

Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community upon his arrival in Buenos Aires. Members of the diaspora gathered at a hotel in the city, greeting him with enthusiastic slogans, traditional songs, and cultural gestures.

As Prime Minister Modi arrived at the hotel, the Indian diaspora showed their zeal and pride by chanting “Saare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara,” turning the moment into a vibrant celebration of Indian culture abroad.

Cultural artists performed in front of the Prime Minister, presenting classical Indian dance forms including Odissi, Bharatanatyam, and Kathak. One of the performers said, “Namaskar. We presented Odissi, Bharatanatyam, and Kathak, and we are super thrilled to have this opportunity. It’s such a blessing for us to perform in front of him and offer a very traditional piece—a Malari, Pushpanjali, sand dance, and music.”

Another artist shared her experience: “I saw the Prime Minister looking at us intently, and then at some point, I heard him saying ‘Shabash’ and praising us. I’m so happy it went well, and we had this amazing opportunity to perform.”

The Indian community also sang the patriotic song “Saare Jahan Se Accha” during the occasion. Reflecting on the visit, one person of Indian origin said, “We are very happy and elated. PM Modi has changed India, and I think our local government has a lot to learn from him. They can bring those changes to Argentina as well.”

Another member of the diaspora added, “I teach the philosophy of yoga and mantras, and I sing myself. Yoga is something that is uniting the two countries. The Indian diaspora is really excited to meet Prime Minister Modi, and this visit is expected to give a major push to people-to-people ties, as far as India–Argentina relations are concerned.”
