The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast varying weather conditions across the country over the coming week, with widespread rainfall expected in the north-eastern, sub-Himalayan, and southern regions and heatwave conditions likely to persist in parts of the north, central and western India.
According to the IMD, widespread rainfall is likely across the north-eastern states, the sub-Himalayan region, and parts of southern India, including coastal states and the Lakshadweep Islands, from Friday through June 15. These areas are expected to receive light to moderate showers at many locations.
In central India, isolated to scattered rain showers have been forecast across several states. However, despite precipitation in some regions, heatwave conditions are set to continue in Himachal Pradesh, western Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh. Warm night conditions are also expected in these areas, though a gradual decline in intensity is anticipated thereafter.
Hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail across the north-eastern states and Bihar in the coming weekend.
Meanwhile, there has been no significant change in maximum temperatures in the national capital. Delhi continues to record maximum temperatures ranging between 41 to 43 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius. The IMD has predicted that hot and humid conditions will persist in the capital until Friday.
From Saturday, Delhi is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, cloudy skies, and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds.
