Hurricane ‘Barbara’ has become the first hurricane of the season in the eastern Pacific, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. The storm is moving northwest, roughly 245 kilometers southwest of Manzanillo, Colima, and continues to strengthen as it moves along the Pacific coast of Mexico.

Commission (Conagua) reported that ‘Barbara’ could bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and high waves to the states of Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán. These conditions may lead to dangerous situations, such as flooding in low-lying areas, landslides, and rising rivers.
This hurricane season, U.S. National Hurricane Center expects between 7 and 15 hurricanes in the eastern Pacific, and between 9 and 15 in the Atlantic. Officials are urging residents in affected areas to stay alert and follow safety instructions.
