Nobel Laureate and Former President of USA Jimmy Carter passed away today at his home in Plains, Georgia. Carter, 100 was having several health issues including melanoma which affected his liver and brain.

In a press release from White House stated that US President Joe Biden directed 9 January will be observed as national mourning day throughout America for Carter.

Carter, the Democrat, became the president of the United States in January 1977. During his presidency in 1978, the peace accords happened between Israel and Egypt and stability prevailed in the Middle East.

In 2002 for his valuable contributions for solving international conflicts, advancing democracy and human rights, promoting economic and social development, Carter got the Nobel Peace Prize.

Jimmy Carter lived longer than any of the US Presidents.
