The India Meteorological Department has said that the southwest monsoon is likely to advance over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab during the next two days. It further advanced into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh yesterday, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar, some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh and most parts of Uttarakhand.
The weather agency has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka, East Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa, Odisha, South Interior Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha and West Uttar Pradesh today. The met department estimated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, East Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi today.
According to the IMD, similar weather conditions are predicted over Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal, Sikkim and West Madhya Pradesh during the day.
The IMD has also predicted that during July, below-normal rainfall is likely over most parts of the country. However, some areas of Northwest and Northeast India, East-Central India and the eastern peninsular region are likely to receive normal to above-normal rainfall.
