Congress will celebrate Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s birthday with a mega employment drive in Delhi on 19 June, 2026.

The party will organise a large-scale “Maha Rozgar Mela” (Mega Employment Fair) at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium with participation from more than 150 companies and institutions.

The employment fair, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., is being organized by the Indian Youth Congress in collaboration with the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

The initiative comes against the backdrop of concerns over unemployment and recent examination paper leak controversies.

Addressing a press conference today, Indian Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib, Delhi Congress General Secretary Anil Bhardwaj, and Youth Congress leaders Akshay Lakra and Khushboo Sharma unveiled the official poster and outlined details of the programme.

Chib said interested candidates can register online through a QR code that directs applicants to the Indian Youth Congress website.

Offline registration facilities are also being provided. Candidates who are unable to register in advance can complete the process on-site at the venue on June 19.

According to organisers, candidates ranging from Class 10 pass-outs to postgraduate degree holders will be eligible to participate in interviews based on their qualifications. Registration for the event will be free of charge.

Chib said the recruitment process would be transparent, with participating companies conducting interviews and issuing offer letters to selected candidates on the spot. He added that a dedicated helpline would remain operational for one month after the fair to assist candidates facing difficulties in joining their jobs after receiving offer letters.

Targeting the BJP-led central government, Chib alleged that unemployment and examination paper leaks had reached record levels during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He claimed that more than 90 examination papers had been leaked and criticised Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the issue.

Chib further asserted that while Congress is not in power at the Centre and therefore cannot provide government jobs, the party is attempting to create employment opportunities for young people through engagement with the private sector.

Sharing data from previous employment fairs, Chib said around 18,000 candidates had registered for a similar event in Delhi last year, with approximately 7,000 securing placements.

He claimed that around 3,000 youths found jobs through a fair in Jaipur, while nearly 10,000 candidates were placed in Patna.

According to Chib, the average placement rate across such events has been about 30 per cent.

Delhi Congress leader Anil Bhardwaj said Delhi’s youth were facing growing frustration due to a lack of employment opportunities.

He alleged that policies pursued by the BJP’s governments had adversely affected job creation and weakened the capital’s long-standing small-scale and cottage industry ecosystem.

Describing unemployment as one of the biggest challenges confronting young people, Bhardwaj said Congress hoped the employment fair would provide fresh opportunities and optimism.

Referring to last year’s event, he claimed that around 3,500 candidates received job offers on the first day itself and expressed confidence that this year’s figures would be higher.
