On the occasion of World Environment Day today, Home Minister Amit Shah led the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)-wide national plantation campaign with planting saplings alongside Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Tripura.
In step with the national drive, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) simultaneously planted 60,000 saplings across all 13 of its operational sectors — spanning airport security commands, nuclear installation units, industrial zones, and training establishments from Guwahati to Chennai and Navi Mumbai to New Delhi.
The 60,000 saplings planted today mark the opening of CISF’s 2026 plantation drive, against an annual target of 4,00,000 saplings entrusted to the Force for the year.
This builds on a six-year record in which CISF has planted 44,08,341 saplings against a cumulative target of 35,70,000 between 2020 and 2025 — exceeding its annual targets every year without exception.
In 2020, CISF planted 8,95,786 saplings against a target of 5,00,000. Beyond plantation, the Force has developed 289 nurseries and 253 Vatikas dedicated in the names of fallen CISF personnel — embedding environmental responsibility into the institutional fabric of the Force.
