The United States has temporarily expanded its Ebola-related entry restrictions to include lawful permanent residents, who have recently traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan.
The move affects individuals who have been in those countries within the past 21 days, as health authorities seek to reduce the risk of Ebola transmission.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said extending the restriction to green card holders was necessary to help prevent the virus from entering the country.
The change marks a shift from previous policy, as green card holders were typically exempt from such restrictions.
