Heavy rainfall and speedy winds are expected across Andhra Pradesh despite the weakening of Cyclone Montha.
According to the weather department, heavy to moderate rainfall is expected in various districts of Andhra Pradesh, while gusty winds can be expected throughout the affected coast.
Officials have advised people to remain indoors and promptly inform authorities in case of emergencies.
Amaravati Meteorological Centre’s scientist, Dr. Karuna Sagar, said that the system will likely weaken into a deep depression within the next six hours, bringing heavy rains and strong winds to several coastal districts.
Cyclone Montha made landfall on the Andhra Coast on Tuesday before weakening into a cyclonic storm. The system, monitored continuously by Doppler Weather Radars in Machilipatnam and Visakhapatnam, is expected to move further inland and lose strength gradually.
