Supreme Court of India begins hearing on petition filed by Justice Yashwant Varma

The Supreme Court of India today began hearing a petition filed by Justice Yashwant Varma of the Allahabad High Court. Justice Varma is challenging the findings of an in-house judicial inquiry that found him guilty of misconduct after half-burnt currency notes were discovered at his official residence in Delhi.

After hearing initial arguments, the Bench adjourned the case. The hearing will now resume on Wednesday. A bench comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and A.G.
