The Indian Army has rescued 571 people from flood-affected areas of Assam as part of its ongoing humanitarian mission, Operation ‘Jal Rahat’.
Persistent rainfall has caused the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries to swell, inundating several villages across Upper Assam.
The floods have damaged homes, agricultural land, and critical infrastructure, disrupting normal life in many areas.
Under Operation Jal Rahat, three specialised flood relief teams comprising 45 Army personnel have been deployed, providing emergency medical care and distributing necessary relief supplies.
