A 15-member Australian Disaster Assistance Response Team, made up predominantly of drone pilots from state emergency services, was deployed following a request from Nepal’s government. Australia expressed serious concerns for the welfare of its 36 missing citizens.
Japan will also dispatch a disaster relief expert team to Nepal to assist with victim identification following devastating floods and mudslides.
The decision was made on Thursday following a request for assistance from the Nepalese government.
