Iran set preconditions on Saturday for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. It demanded compensation for war damages and other concessions, complicating efforts to restore traffic through the vital waterway.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that talks with Oman on transit arrangements were approaching the final stages. However, reopening remained subject to additional conditions, including redress for alleged violations of the June memorandum.

Security Chief Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr listed demands encompassing an end to aggression against Iran and its allies, lifting of the US naval blockade and sanctions, release of frozen assets, and wartime compensation.
