Russia launched a major overnight missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, killing at least 17 people and injuring dozens in Kyiv and the surrounding region.

Residential buildings and warehouses were hit, triggering fires across multiple districts of the capital. Ukraine’s Air Force said it was unable to intercept any of the 28 Russian missiles fired during the attack, citing a severe shortage of anti-ballistic munitions. Russia also launched 115 drones, making it one of the latest large-scale strikes in the escalating conflict.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Denis Lyamin as the head of Russia’s newly created Unmanned Systems Forces, a military branch dedicated to drone warfare, as part of a broader military reshuffle.
