An Air India flight, AI 2379, operating from Phuket to Delhi today, experienced a brief in-flight turbulence-related event during cruise, resulting in a momentary change in altitude.
The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers and crew have safely disembarked.
The Air craft from Thailand, was carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members. Air India said that of these thirteen passengers and four crew members sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical evaluation.
It also confirmed that there have been no serious injuries as of now. The flight operator said that the safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain its highest priority.
Air India also inforned that they are providing all necessary support to those affected and are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as part of the investigation.
Later on the day, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu visited the Hospital, along with Secretary of the Ministry Samir Kumar Sinha.
They enquired about the condition of the injured passengers and assure them of all necessary assistance. Civil Aviation Ministry informed that the aircraft has been moved to the hangar and the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder have been secured for detailed examination.
It added that The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated a detailed investigation into the occurrence.
