Prof. Xiaolei Huang from the U.S. has been awarded more than $500,000 in funding from the National Science Foundation for a research-project being carried out in collaboration with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to develop advanced technologies for precision soybean breeding.
The project will run from October 2026 to September 2029. It aims to build an AI-powered system to improve soybean breeding and farming. Researchers will use smart sensors and AI to monitor crops, soil and weather conditions.
The project includes researchers from universities and agricultural institutes in both the U.S. and India, including IIT Delhi and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
