President Murmu addresses India-Romania Business Forum at Bucharest

On the second day of her state visit to Romania, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the India-Romania Business Forum at Bucharest in the presence of Romanian President Nicușor Dan, members of the Romania Government, business leaders from India and Romania and representatives of Industry Associations of India and Romania.

Addressing the Forum, President Murmu said that India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” aims to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of Indian Independence. She called for deeper cooperation in trade, investment, technology and industrial partnerships.

The President said that the more than seven-decade-old relationship between India and Romania has acquired renewed strategic importance amid the changing global economic landscape.

President Murmu described Romania as not only an important investment destination for India but also a gateway to the wider European market. She said the proposed India–European Union Free Trade Agreement would mark a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between India and the EU, boosting trade, investment, resilient supply chains, MSMEs, startups and innovation. The President said there is immense untapped potential in India–Romania economic ties.
