At least 42 civilians and security personnel have been killed in four days of coordinated militant attacks in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan, marking one of the deadliest violence in the province in recent months.
Authorities said four civilians and nine law enforcement personnel were among those killed, while security forces also eliminated 54 militants during the operations launched in response to the attacks.
According to local authorities, gunmen stormed a checkpoint guarding the Mangi Dam project on Tuesday, killing nine police officers and leaving several others missing.
The latest violence comes amid a surge in militant attacks along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. While Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over cross-border militancy, authorities in Kabul have consistently denied any involvement.
Pakistan has also carried out airstrikes on Afghan territory in recent months, which have reportedly resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians.
