The flood situation in Assam has improved significantly, with only Dhemaji district remaining affected. However, severe storms and lightning have claimed three lives in the state over the last 24 hours and caused damage to houses and power infrastructure.

According to the latest Assam State Disaster Management Authority report, nearly 6,700 people across 17 villages in Dhemaji district continue to be affected by floodwaters.

Three people lost their lives in storm and lightning incidents in Chirang, Udalguri, and Tamulpur, while one person was injured in a lightning strike.

Relief operations are continuing, with three relief camps and one relief distribution centre currently operational, sheltering 129 people and assisting another 80 people outside the camps.

Infrastructure damage has been reported from several areas, including road erosion in Dhemaji and a washed-away bridge in Golaghat.
