The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Tuesday rescued six fishermen from a distressed fishing boat off the Mangaluru coast amid rough sea conditions.
According to the ICG, the fishing boat Manju Matha suffered hull damage and flooding in rough seas on June 29.
All six fishermen were rescued using remote-operated lifebuoys and are being brought to New Mangalore for aid and handover to local authorities.
On social media X, the ICG stated, “Swift #SearchAndRescue by @IndiaCoastGuard Ship #Sachet off Mangalu ru, saved six lives. After IFB Manju Matha suffered hull damage and flooding in rough seas on 29 Jun 26, all survivors were rescued using remote-operated lifebuoys. Survivors are being brought to #NewMangalore for aid and handover to local authorities. Every life matters.”
The rescue operation was carried out under extremely rough sea conditions, with Coast Guard personnel undertaking a challenging maritime mission to reach the stranded fishermen aboard Manju Matha.
The team deployed remote-operated lifebuoys specially designed for adverse sea conditions to safely rescue all six fishermen from the vessel.
