The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) foiled an attempt to illegally transport foreign currency out of the country after recovering 1,20,000 UAE Dirhams, valued at approximately ₹30.83 lakh, from the hand baggage of an international passenger at Mumbai’s Terminal-2 on Saturday.

The passenger was scheduled to travel from Mumbai to Dubai on Emirates Flight EK-505.

During routine security screening at the Integrated Security Hold Area (SHA), the X-ray screener noticed suspicious images in the passenger’s hand baggage, prompting a detailed physical examination.

The search led to the recovery of 1,20,000 UAE Dirhams concealed in the baggage.

Following the seizure, the passenger and the recovered currency were handed over to the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) for investigation and further legal action.

The timely detection prevented the suspected illegal movement of foreign currency and reinforced the effectiveness of the airport’s multi-layered security screening system.
