The US Supreme Court has ruled 6–3 in favor of the Trump administration, allowing it to end Temporary Protected Status for about 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians living in the United States.

Justice Samuel Alito said the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to revoke TPS is not subject to judicial review.

The court also rejected claims that the move was motivated by racial bias, stating that the administration’s actions could be justified on race-neutral policy grounds.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) protects people from deportation if returning to their home countries would be unsafe due to war, natural disasters, or other extraordinary conditions.

The ruling could affect more than one million TPS beneficiaries from over a dozen countries, including Afghanistan, Venezuela, Yemen, and South Sudan, whose protections have also been revoked under the Trump administration.
