J&K: Two Youth Die Cleaning Well in Kupwara

Two young men died of suspected suffocation after entering a well for cleaning in the Hatmulla area of Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The incident occurred when the duo entered the well and fell unconscious, reportedly due to the presence of toxic gases. Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation, but both men were declared dead.

The deceased were identified as Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, and Aadil Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, both residents of Hatmulla Padnal in Kupwara.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and further proceedings are underway.

The deaths have sent shockwaves through the area, with residents expressing grief over the loss of the two young men.
