U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio vowed that the United States will not do anything to hurt the security of U.S. allies in the Gulf region when it comes to Washington’s dealings with Iran.

After holding talks with the United Arab Emirates leader earlier on June 24, Rubio met with Kuwaiti leaders before flying to Bahrain.

During the visit to Kuwait, Rubio said Washington would be on the same page as Gulf states as it wrangles with Iran over a permanent settlement to the conflict.

Rubio is on a tour of 3 Gulf countries, to reassure the Gulf states, which were targeted by Tehran’s missiles and drones during the conflict.

The initial US-Iran deal, failed to address Gulf nations’ long-standing concerns about Iran’s missile program and regional proxies.

Rubio is due to attend a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting in Bahrain on June 25 after sitting down with the leaders of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on June 24.

Marco Rubio said, “We want them to know, and we want to reiterate and begin to talk to them and engage them in conversations about every decision that’s made with regard to this negotiation. We’re not going to do anything that undermines the security of our allies, our long-standing allies in the region.”

“I know of no country on the planet that supports tolling or a fee for the use of the Straits. That’s just not – that’s not going to happen. The President has been abundantly clear,” he added.
