Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia remained ready for peace talks with Ukraine.
He said that such talks should be based on agreements reached in Istanbul in 2022.
President Putin also added that Ukraine conducts strikes on Russia to be able to talk from a position of strength at peace negotiations, should they resume.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin said, “As has been said many times, Russia is ready for peace negotiations with Ukraine on the basis of the agreements reached earlier in Istanbul, which, I remind you, were initiated by the Ukrainian delegation at the time. That means everything suited them. I see no grounds for us to depart from these agreements. But this should be on the basis of the agreements reached in Istanbul, on the basis of the modalities discussed in Anchorage, and, most importantly, on the basis of the realities on the ground.”
In the meantime, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said ON social media ‘X’: ‘The majority in Russia is already taking issue with Putin because there is no end in sight to his war. And all the hardships Russians are facing today should bring them closer to the realization that their war is real, that it’s not just “stones falling from the sky,” and that their war must end.”
