The U.S. Southern Command said on Sunday that it carried out a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in the deaths of two people. It alleged the boat was operated by “designated terrorist organizations,” though it did not identify them.

In a post on X, the command said no U.S. military personnel were harmed in the operation.

It described those killed as “male narco-terrorists,” without providing further details.

The statement added that six male survivors were found following the action, and that the U.S. Coast Guard had been notified to carry out search and rescue efforts.

The incident has been criticized by rights groups as “extrajudicial killings,” while the Donald Trump administration has described such operations as targeting “narco-terrorists.”
