The U.S. and Iran have entered a new phase of diplomacy as senior officials from both the countries meet in Switzerland to negotiate a broader settlement aimed at ending months of conflict and reducing tensions across the West Asia.
The talks, being held at the Burgenstock resort near Lake Lucerne, follow the signing of a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding that established a 60-day ceasefire and opened the door to direct technical negotiations on several contentious issues.
Speaking after negotiations with Iranian officials at the Swiss resort of Burgenstock, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that Iran has agreed to invite UN nuclear watchdog, IAEA’s inspectors back into its country after the first round of talks in Switzerland.
He also informed that the Strait of Hormuz remains open as U.S.–Iran talks show strong momentum, technical negotiations continue, and no final agreement reached yet.
