In Jharkhand, Police and security forces have executed a major operation against PLFI militants in the Jariagarh police station area of Khunti district. Following a fierce encounter in the Tilmi forest, the police yesterday apprehended the organization’s top commander, Shravan Das, who was wounded. Half a dozen members of his squad were also arrested.

Police had received intelligence that PLFI militants had gathered in the Tilmi forest, plotting a major subversive act. Acting swiftly on this information, the Jariagarh and Karra police launched a joint special raid. As the police team reached the forest, the militants opened indiscriminate fire. The police retaliated, and during the exchange, the notorious commander Shravan Das was shot.

Khunti SP Rishabh Garg stated that the police recovered a large quantity of weapons and materials from the encounter site, including four pistols, several country-made guns, over a dozen live cartridges, incriminating documents related to the organization, and a diary.

According to the police, the recovered diary is a key focus of the investigation; it contains the mobile numbers of various local contractors and detailed plans for future criminal activities. The police hope this diary will prove to be the “master key” to dismantling the militant organization’s entire network.

Shravan Das had become synonymous with terror in the Torpa and Karra areas. He faces dozens of serious charges, including firing at railway construction sites, arson, and extortion.

Das had long been on the police’s “most wanted” list and was charged under stringent provisions, including the PCA (Prevention of Corruption Act).

After receiving first aid, the injured commander Shravan Das is being referred to RIMS, Ranchi, for advanced medical treatment. SP Rishabh Garg stated that a search operation is currently underway in the forest to apprehend the organization’s other absconding members as soon as possible.

Following this major success, police deployment in the area has been increased, and security has been tightened.
