Members of the Hindu community and Sanatani organisations staged protests in Dhaka, Bangladesh, over the alleged desecration of an image of Lord Ram.

Demonstrators formed a human chain and carried out rallies and torch processions at Shahbag, marching towards the National Press Club.

The protest, led by the United Sanatani Society, saw participation from religious, social, and cultural groups demanding justice and protection of minority rights.

Leaders of the organisation called for an impartial investigation and strict legal action, warning that attacks on religious sentiments could disturb communal harmony.

Protesters submitted an eight-point charter of demands, seeking arrests of those involved, action against online hate content, and enhanced security for temples and minority communities.

The demonstrations come in the wake of recent tensions in Gaibandha, with organisers warning that the agitation could spread nationwide if action is not taken. Dhaka University students also held a torch rally demanding accountability.
