A big Crowd gathered in Belfast on Saturday for an anti-racism protest after days of unrest in the Northern Irish capital saw property, businesses and vehicles come under attack.

Violence flared on Tuesday following a knife attack allegedly involving a Sudanese man, as masked groups in Belfast set fire to homes and cars and targeted ethnic minorities. Smaller outbreaks of unrest continued on Wednesday.

Britain’s Northern Ireland Minister condemned the anti-migrant attacks as “racist thuggery.” Community leaders say traditional sectarian tensions have increasingly been replaced by hostility toward ethnic minorities in recent years.
