On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day today, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has called upon people to come forward and voluntarily donate blood to help save lives.

In a social media post, Nadda said that blood donation is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to give someone a second chance at life. The Health Minister also stressed on the need to spread awareness about the importance of blood donation, dispel common myths associated with it, and encourage greater public participation in this noble cause.

Highlighting this year’s World Blood Donor Day theme of One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives, Mr Nadda said that every donor has the power to make a life-changing difference.

He added that a single blood donation can offer hope and support to patients requiring blood transfusions.

The Minister has also urged citizens to unite in support of this noble cause and contribute towards building a healthier, more caring and compassionate society.

World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on the 14th of June to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving contributions.
