Switzerland goes to the polls on June 14 on a referendum to cap its population at 10 million, sparking business concerns over a potential economic shock.

The supporters of the cap, championed by the right-wing Swiss People’s Party have said that the population growth is straining infrastructure and driving up rents and crime.

The Swiss population had grown to 9.1 million by the end of 2025.
