European Union has imposed sanctions on two Iranian individuals and a unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for actions that threatened freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas announced that this is the first use of the EU’s new freedom of navigation sanctions regime.
It said in a written statement that it had added the Hormozgan Provincial Command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy to its sanctions list, as well as Mohammad Akbarzadeh and Hamid Hosseini.
