President Donald Trump has announced that the federal government’s TrumpRx website will add 160 prescription medicines, expanding an initiative aimed at reducing drug costs for Americans.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social but did not specify which medicines would be added to the platform.
Launched in January, TrumpRx is part of the administration’s “most-favored-nation” pricing initiative, which seeks to align US prescription drug prices more closely with those in other developed countries through agreements with pharmaceutical companies.
The website initially featured branded medicines and does not directly sell drugs. Instead, it directs patients to external websites where the medicines can be purchased.
Trump has repeatedly pledged to lower prescription drug prices for Americans and make them among the lowest in the world. However, prices listed on the platform remain higher than those paid for comparable medicines in countries such as the United Kingdom.
Further details regarding the newly added medicines and pricing structure have not yet been released.
