West Bengal: CM Suvendu Adhikari To Chair First Cabinet Meeting Today

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers at the state secretariat, Nabanna, today. Portfolios are expected to be distributed among the five ministers who took oath along with the Chief Minister on Saturday at Brigade Parade Ground.

The new cabinet is likely to discuss the BJP’s electoral promises. Issues such as Ayushman Bharat, Annapurna Bhandar, and implementation of the 7th Pay Commission for state government employees are expected to come up for discussion.

Administrative and law-and-order review meetings are also likely to be held with District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, and secretaries of various departments. Newly elected MLAs are expected to attend the meetings.

A Guard of Honour will be presented to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at around 11 AM, following which the cabinet meeting will take place.

Meanwhile, newly elected members of the 18th West Bengal Legislative Assembly will take oath on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. Senior BJP leader Tapas Roy will serve as the Protem Speaker.
