Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated a multipurpose indoor stadium at Government Degree College Tangmarg and a newly constructed hospital building in Gulmarg.
He was accompanied by Education and Health Minister Sakina Itoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and Gulmarg MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah.
Speaking at a function held at Degree College Tangmarg, Abdullah said children are the future and emphasized the need to prepare them for upcoming challenges. He said the government will make every possible effort in this regard.
He also expressed concern over the lack of private colleges and universities in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that students are compelled to pursue higher education outside the region. He noted that a significant amount is spent on fees in institutions outside and said the Assembly has decided to establish private colleges and universities locally to address the issue.
Responding to questions from reporters, Abdullah said the removal of voters’ names in West Bengal was wrong. On reports of a National Conference MLA leaving the party, he said no such issue existed. He added that tourist destinations currently closed will be reopened.
