Nepal Jeep Accident: 17 Killed at Jaljala of Rolpa district

17 people died in a jeep accident in Thawang of Rolpa district of Lumbini Province in Nepal. The vehicle, traveling from Rukum (East), met with the accident at Jaljala in Thawang Rural Municipality-1 of Rolpa district.

According to sources, the jeep was carrying 20 people, and the pilgrims were to visit fair at jaljala on occasion of Budhdha Purnima.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Rolpa, Police Inspector Sunil Thapa, said that a jeep veered some 800 meters down a cliff from the road, causing a fatal accident.

Due to rains for a few days, roads have turned slippery, the road where the accident happened was steep and unpaved and the rain has created a hassle in the rescue operation.

According to Nepal Police, rescue operations are currently underway. Further details are yet to be ascertained.
