Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, inspected the Western Bypass in Gwalior on Tuesday. During the visit, Scindia stated that this project would prove to be a milestone in balancing the city’s development from east to west. With the approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, this project is now set to materialize on the ground, thereby providing Gwalior with enhanced connectivity and momentum.
Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Bhitarwar MLA Mohan Singh Rathore, Chairman of the Special Area Development Authority Ashok Sharma, former MLA Munnalal Goyal, along with other public representatives and administrative officials were also present on the occasion.
While reviewing the progress of the Western Bypass project, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia held detailed discussions with NHAI officials stationed in Delhi, Bhopal, and Gwalior.
He conducted a comprehensive review with the officials regarding the current status, pace, and quality of the construction work.
Furthermore, he directed the officials to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe and to the highest standards, ensuring that the Gwalior region can quickly reap the benefits of improved connectivity and traffic facilities.
It is noteworthy that the 88-km-long Gwalior-Agra Expressway will be connected via the Western Bypass, which is set to be developed into a 4-lane highway.
This 29-km-long project, estimated to cost approximately ₹1,347 crore, will subsequently connect to the Shivpuri Expressway as well.
Following the inspection, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, stating that the development of the Gwalior-Chambal region has gained new momentum under the Prime Minister’s leadership and guidance.
Speaking on the development of Gwalior, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that, alongside the expansion of the airport and railway station, a modern international cricket stadium will be constructed in the city at a cost of approximately ₹300 crore.
Furthermore, the government’s establishment of various institutions—including the ITBP—will boost employment and development in the region.
