Vyacheslav Volodin met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang on Sunday, underscoring deepening ties between Russia and North Korea amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
During the meeting, Volodin said he would attend the opening of a newly built memorial dedicated to North Korean soldiers who died fighting alongside Russian forces in the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Separately, Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov arrived in Pyongyang for talks with North Korea’s top leadership and senior military officials, and to participate in ceremonial events.
