Amid ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has shown willingness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for possible peace talks.

During his visit to Istanbul, Zelenskyy said he is ready for direct negotiations with Putin to end the conflict. His remarks came after meetings with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

Zelenskyy also announced expanded security cooperation with Turkey following his talks with President Erdogan. Erdogan, in turn, reaffirmed Turkey’s support for efforts aimed at facilitating peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is expecting a United States delegation led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to visit Kyiv later this month, as fresh efforts are being made to restart peace talks.

The Ukrainian presidential office said that some progress has been made on security guarantees, with the United States continuing its role as a mediator between the two countries.

The last round of talks between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations took place in Florida on March 21.
