The Trump administration announced fresh sanctions against Iran and Venezuela, targeting companies involved in the production and sale of drones.

The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and entities based in Iran and Venezuela over activities including the purchase of Iranian-designed drones. The administration is also sanctioning three Iran-based individuals linked to efforts to acquire chemicals for ballistic missiles, along with two companies and three people connected to Iran’s UAV and aerospace programme.

Among those affected are Venezuela’s Empresa Aeronautica Nacional SA and its chair, Jose Jesus Urdaneta Gonzalez, which US authorities said had acquired Iranian-designed unmanned aerial vehicles.

The new sanctions come as President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on Venezuela by sanctioning President Nicolás Maduro and ordering military strikes on a facility he described as a “dock” used for alleged drug boats.

US officials said the measures are aimed at disrupting Iran-Venezuela cooperation that supports Tehran’s military-industrial complex. Trump also warned on Monday that the United States would strike Iran if its leaders pursue a nuclear weapon.
