New Year Greetings: Chinese and Russian Heads of State Exchange Messages

President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged messages of New Year greetings. Xi Jinping, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, extended sincere congratulations and best wishes to President Vladimir Putin and the Russian people.

Noting that the year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, Xi Jinping said China and Russia have solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Noting that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, Xi Jinping said that 2026-2027 will be designated as the China-Russia Years of Education.

Jinping expressed his readiness to continue maintaining close exchanges with President Putin to jointly push for continuous new progress in bilateral relations in the new era.

President Vladimir Putin extended sincere holiday greetings to President Xi Jinping and wishes the Chinese people happiness and good health.

Putin said that over the past year, the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era has maintained a sound development momentum and achieved fruitful results.

He further said Russia and China have actively expanded economic and trade cooperation, with major cooperation projects progressing steadily. The mutual visa exemption between the two countries has greatly facilitated people-to-people exchanges. The two countries will jointly launch the Russia-China Years of Education.

President Putin expressed willingness to continue maintaining close communication with President Xi Jinping on bilateral relations and major international issues.
