Thailand-Cambodia Ceasefire Talks: UN Secretary-General welcomes

After three weeks of deadly border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia the ceasfire talks has come into effect on Saturday. The border-fight have forced to leave nearly one million people from their homes.

In a joint statement, the defence ministers of both the countries agreed to stop the fights ban and allow civilians, who were leaving in border areas to return as soon as possible.

The ceasefire had taken to effect at noon on Saturday.
Also in goodwill gesture, 18 Cambodian soldiers held by Thailand since July will be released.

With the diplomatic intervention of China and the US, the ceasefire talks was began and came to effect.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.

In a statemnt, the UN SG expressed his appreciation to Malaysia, the current ASEAN Chair, as well as China and the United States, for their efforts in support of a peaceful resolution of the situation.
