On the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ghana on Thursday, he is scheduled to interact with the Indian community and pay tribute at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, accompanied by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.
Located in the heart of Accra, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is a dedicated tribute to Ghana’s founding father and first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Clad in Italian marble and crowned with a black star symbolizing unity, the monument stands as a powerful representation of Ghana’s struggle for independence and enduring legacy.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi, along with President Mahama, will visit the iconic Black Star Square. He will also address the Parliament of Ghana before departing for Port of Spain.
On Wednesday, during the first day of his visit, Prime Minister Modi was conferred with Ghana’s national honour – Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana – by President Mahama. The award recognizes Modi’s distinguished statesmanship and influential global leadership.
Accepting the award on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the honour to the aspirations of India’s youth, its rich cultural heritage, and the historic ties shared between Ghana and India. He expressed gratitude to the people and government of Ghana for the honour.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi also held a warm and productive meeting with Ghana’s Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. They had discussed to further strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries and how to grow with mutual collaboration.
