Hundreds of protesters gathered in Bangkok on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra amid growing tensions over a border dispute with Cambodia.
The demonstration marked the largest anti-government rally since Shinawatra’s party came to power in 2023, intensifying pressure on her already fragile coalition ahead of a potential no-confidence vote.
The protest was led by nationalist activists who have historically opposed governments backed by the Shinawatra family. Despite the unrest, Paetongtarn dismissed the concerns, assuring the public that the situation would be handled peacefully.
The political crisis deepened after the Bhumjaithai Party withdrew its support from the ruling coalition, following the leak of a phone call in which Paetongtarn appeared to criticize a Thai army commander.
