Both Iran and Israel defended their recent strikes on each other during a U.N. Security Council meeting.

Iran’s U.N. Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani described Iran’s actions as “proportionate defensive operations” in response to an Israeli strike on an Iranian news agency office, which he condemned as a war crime and an attack on press freedom. He stated that Iran acted in self-defense under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter.

In contrast, Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon accused Iran of targeting civilians, while asserting that Israel focuses on the “regime’s terror machine.” Danon added that Israel would continue to target military sites in Iran while making efforts to minimize civilian casualties.
